Busy Summer

Charity Golf Tournament

Although our regular club meetings were on "vacation" this past July and August, our club still had a busy summer supporting out local community!
On June 21st we hosted our 7th Annual Golf Tournament at the North Conway Country Club which was our biggest fundraiser to date. 62 participants and many local sponsors help raised money that will be donated to MWV charities.
July 4th took us to Schuler Park, where we sold hot dogs, chips and water. That was our first time at North Conway's 4th of July celebration at the park and our lines were long!
We also brought back our annual Kayak Raffle, which was our 6th. Club Volunteers sold raffle tickets on Saturdays throughout the summer, raising money for the Miranda Leavitt Diabetes Fund and others in the Mt. Washington Valley. The winner of this year's kayak was Richard Zumbaugh of Tampa, FL.! Congratulations Richard! The kayak was delivered to a local friend and Richard will pick up when he is back in the area.
On July 13th Trails End Ice Cream shop in Intervale hosted their Cone-For-Cause fundraiser for our organization. It was a hot & sunny day, and the lines were long! Throughout the entire day, club volunteers attended a table to answers questions about our club, sell kayak raffle tickets and sometimes just socialize with the visitors to our area.
Throughout the summer we continued to collect and recycle soft plastics for NexTrex's Recycling Program with the help of Hannaford Super Market in North Conway. For every 500 pounds of plastic we recycle, Trex donates a bench made from recycled plastics. To date, The Conway Area Lions Club has donated 8 benches to the local towns we serve. That translates in to 4,000 pounds (or 2 tons)!
As we reach our 8th anniversary, the Conway Area Lions Club will continue to serve our communities into 2023 way beyond! WE SERVE!
